Most toxic workplaces aren't loud or obvious.

 

They're quietly corrosive. Marked by confusion, shifting expectations, withheld information, and pressure to stay positive while your nervous system stays on high alert.

 

Over time, this erosion takes a real toll — on your mental health, your confidence, your sense of who you are at work. And yet most people get stuck at the same wall: they sense harm, but they don't have the language, structure, or evidence to name it. So they're told to cope better. Be more resilient. My experience was typical. My approach to the solution is not.

 I'm Elizabeth Arnott and for more than 26 years, I've overseen human resources in complex, high-stakes environments where emotions and conflict run as high as the pressure on the bottom line. 

As a senior HR leader, I went through the experience of filing a report and experiencing retaliation, biased investigations and the trauma of not being believed. These experiences gave me the opportunity and empathy to develop something innovative that was more effective than just "hanging in there" when it comes to challenging workplaces. 


With 80% of US employees reporting their workplaces as toxic and the new trend of "job-hugging" - staying in a bad job because the economy is unsteady - we have reached a critical stage in the need for employee support in complex or challenging workplaces.
